AMBC CONGRATULATE THE CITY OF BACOOR FOR BEING OFFICIALLY DECLARED AS THE MARCHING BAND CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES.

In celebration of its rich musical heritage and for being the birthplace of the oldest living marching bands in the country, the City of Bacoor has been holding Musiko: The Grandest Marching Band Competition in the Philippines since 2011. It leaves a lasting impact on the community as it gives significance to local history, local traditions, and local products and services. Bacooreños’ love for music can be seen and heard daily providing musical entertainment on sociocultural events like baptism, weddings, birthdays, and even funerals.

In order to sustain this practice, the local government unit with the assistance of Department of Education formed school-based drum and lyre corps showcasing their prowess and competitiveness in the annual Bakood Festival. As of writing, there are more than thirty outstanding drum and lyre corps performing in the Drum & Lyre Parade and Drill Competition every September.

The City Government of Bacoor conceptualized as well a culture and arts program dedicated to develop the potential of local elementary and high school students in marching band music. Ever since the City of Bacoor Special Program for the Arts was formally launched in 2016, more than a hundred young Bacooreños have undergone workshops conducted by various maestros and trainers well-known in the industry.

And above all, the City of Bacoor entered the international scene in 2018 by inviting contingents from different parts of Asia to participate at the first ever international marching band competition in the Philippines, the City of Bacoor International Music Championships. As the host of this momentous occasion, the City of Bacoor has exceeded the expectations of many for being able to stage a week-long global event promoting not only the excessive talents of Filipinos but also Bacooreños’ innate artistry.

With utmost respect and appreciation to everyone who supported us in this journey, we would like to extend our gratitude to our government officials led by Congressman Strike B. Revilla, Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, Vice Mayor Karen Sarino-Evaristo, and Sangguniang Panlungsod Members; to different government offices such as National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Tourism, Office of Congressman Strike B. Revilla, and Office of the President; and to our partner organizations like Color Guard Alliance of the Philippines Inc, Pambansang Samahan ng mga Banda sa Pilipinas Inc, Philippine Drum and Lyre Associates Inc, DrumLines of the Philippines, Philippine Baton Twirling Association Inc, PhilBanda Inc, Bacoor Marching Bands Association, and Asian Marching Band Confederation.
