Competition Rules

The AMBC provides a standardized set of rules and regulations for all sanctioned events. These rules cover adjudication criteria, classification of bands, code of conduct, and safety guidelines.

General Regulations

  • Classifications: Bands are classified based on size, age group (Junior/Senior), and style.
  • Performance Time: Strict time limits for field shows and street parades.
  • Adjudication: We use the International Marching System (IMS) for scoring.

Judging Criteria

Caption Weight Description
Music Performance 30% Tone quality, intonation, technique, ensemble cohesion.
Visual Performance 30% Marching technique, body movement, specific forms.
General Effect 40% Entertainment value, program design, emotional impact.
